| Craig is taking his driver's
test this week. If you are a local resident, you might want to keep off of the sidewalks come Wednesday. His driving is actually
pretty good, probably better than the average teenager as he is more cautious than he used to be. The problem he has is remembering
directions and the location of things. We are not sure if this is just from a lack of practice or a bigger problem. We may
have an opportunity to get Craig into a TBI study at a hospital in Salt Lake to evaluate the use of hyperbaric oxygen. He
has to be one year out from his accident and 18 to participate, which will be in mid-September. They put him into a oxygen
chamber at elevated pressure for an hour or so, 60 times over a two-month period. The idea is that the high pressure
oxygen forces its way into the brain tissue and establishes new contacts and blood pathways. The initial evaluations of this
approach look very promising, and the timing would be perfect for Craig. There is a charge to be involved, but nothing close
to what it would cost to have the treatments done as a regular patient. |
