Craig went to the movies today and had a good time. He is still concerned about his eyesight and feels like if he could just see normally, it would really speed up his recovery. If you need something to pray for this weekend, that would be it. It is interesting to observe his ability to remember things, and what things concern him. Last week he could not remember any swear words, and that concerned him because he did not want to swear on accident. He remembered them all today.
Don't forget about Sunday, we are really looking forward to seeing everyone. I added our address to the post below if you are not sure where we live.

We survived the first day at home. Craig wants to do alot more than he is capable of doing right now, and holding him back is going to be difficult. We have a number of doctor appts and evaluations coming up which will keep us hopping for a while. The outpatient therapy is scheduled to start on Monday. I posted a picture above of the family walking out of the hospital yesterday (click to enlarge).

Exciting and exhausting day. Getting Craig discharged from the hospital was quite the ordeal. In addition, we had 3-months worth of 'things' to pack up and move put. We had a lunch today for all of the hospital support staff that had worked with Craig. It was great to see all of the people who have helped us so much during this ordeal. I think having Craig home is going to be great for him and for our family.

We met with the doctor's this morning and the decision has been made to discharge Craig tomorrow! They felt that they was really no more to be gained by keeping him in the hospital and that emotionally, he would do better at home. While this is great news, and something that we have hoped and prayed for, it is also a little daunting. While we certainly will not miss our lives revolving around the hospital schedule, we have had the constant support of doctors and nurses, and now it will be all us. After 107 days, Craig is really excited and ready to move on. I guess this will be the next phase of the recovery process. Thanks to a wonderful group of doctor's and nurses at Mckay Dee who have helped us get to this point.

Tonight Craig announced to the family that he was tired of everyone treating him so nice and that he would like us to treat him normal again. In fact, his brothers were 'freaking him out' with their niceness. He is also actively lobbying all of the hospital staff to move up his release date. His workout this afternoon was the most physically demanding that I have observed, and he was really sweating at the end. While still working on specifics like balance and fine motor control, the therapists are pushing to build up his endurance and stamina. One of our fears is that once he is home we won't be able to get the same intensity in his workouts. We are going to need to employ many of you young people out there to come and work out with him, and push his limits.

Craig had a good weekend. Even the Utes loss to the coogurs didn't bother him that much. He reasoned that in a real rivalry the other team has to win once in awhile, and once very 5-years is about right. In addition, he has some BYU fans as friends that have been feeling pretty bad for the last few years, and a win might help their self-esteem. I'll have to give that some thought. We are still having a problem with Craig's vision. It is blurry most of the time and it is making a lot of things more difficult. Again, we are not sure if it is result of the accident or a side effect of the medication he is on. The doctor's have told us that this is not unusual following a head injury, and that it should return to normal with time. We are observing that some of the missing memories from this summer are coming back, and that is a good sign.
