Good day today. Craig did well in all his therapy sessions and is gaining back a lot of muscle strength in his upper body. He has reached the point where we can get 'day passes' to take him out of the hospital for a while. We are planning to do this on Sunday afternoon, so if you normally come up that day to visit, we probably won't be there between noon and 6 pm (or so). They are also advancing his diet from pureed to minced, which is one step closer to Arby's.

Odd day today. This morning Craig was very non-cooperative with the therapy people, and would not do anything. We were not sure if he didn't feel well or was just in a lousy mood. This afternoon he bounced back however, and had one of his best PT sessions yet. We were finally able to remove the bandage from his neck as the trach hole had finally healed. He had another good workout tonight and is getting better control of his muscles in various tasks.

Craig is feeling better today, but still a little down from the infection, The PT people gave us access to the exercise room at night, so we are able to do some additional exercises after hours. Due to the amount of calories Craig is getting from regular meals, they have cut back the feeding tube to nights only. This is a good step and we hope that it will increase his appetite during the day.

Craig wasn't himself this morning and he seemed to be experiencing periodic abdominal pain. After lengthy discussion, the doctor's came to the conclusion that he had an infection (UTI) and he is currently on an antibiotic. We hope this works quickly and that he is back feeling good again tomorrow. He ate a big dinner after weak attempts at breakfast and lunch, and we think this is a good sign.

Sunday's in rehab are nice. Craig was able to sleep in, have breakfast, and then take a post-breakfast nap. He had a single PT session for about 2-hours, and the rest of the afternoon was spent watching football and game 2 of the world series. Except for the PT, pretty much his Sunday schedule before the accident.
